“My only concern was the printing process for imagery. I did not find the inkjet printing to be as rich, colorful, and as full contrast as I would have liked. Outskirts did all they could and helped to come up with an agreeable compromise. I have to say Outskirts worked hard to rectify any problems. I am very happy with my book, but still a bit disappointed in the printing. I hope that for image heavy books, a better printing process could be found.”

Manhatta started three years ago when photographer Keith Goldstein looked out the window from the 21st floor of the Empire State Building.
Inspired by the artistic legacy of Paul Strand and Charles Sheeler, I wanted to pay homage to their film through my own imagery. My first images were in black and white, but I decided to transcend their vision by opting for my own personal exploration through the use of color imagery. I sought the interplay of reflective light and employed long lenses to compress space, creating abstracted perspectives of the urban vista before me.
