Most people who enjoy reading have had good reading habits introduced and modeled for them by family members, educators, and peers. When children see others reading for interest and enjoyment, it can inspire them to become better readers. However, for many elementary school children, reading on grade level remains one of the greatest life skill challenges they face. This negatively impacts their mental health and future success academically, socially, and economically. Franklin, the main character in this book serves as a model for young students to discover the wonder of words and reading. He becomes inspired to improve his reading and spelling abilities to earn a new favored item for school. The Adventures Of Franklin In Philly Town takes its young readers on a neighborhood journey with Franklin as he encounters a problem earning this item and tries to figure out what to do.
