“Publishing with Outskirts Press was a GREAT experience, and so easy. The help I was given made the entire process flow smooth, from beginning to end. I’m currently working on my next project and will again choose Outskirts Press for my publishing needs.”
Robert is a Florida transplant, originally from the Chicago area. After attending both Purdue and Indiana Universities, he had a 23 year career working with troubled adolescents in Mental Health. Robert had always had a passion for writing, and engaged many of his young patients in writing therapy. In the early 1990’s, Robert’s Career was cut short due to changes in the health care system. After a year without work, he was encouraged by friends, family and of course Betty Joe, to let the past go and move on. Robert then entered a career in Real Estate, and developed a successful business as a Real Estate Broker. In 1999, Betty Joe expressed her desire to move closer to her Daughter in Florida. A year later, Robert closed up shop and retired to Southwest Florida as well. However, retirement was short lived and Robert began a second career in Health Care. Robert now spends his time with his partner traveling, gardening and of course writing. The Story of Betty Joe was intended to be a short poem for his Mother. But her incredible struggles to get through daily life needed to be told. From an infant with a poor chance to live, The Story of Betty Joe spans her 80 years and the milestones of her life.
