Joscylan Adams, author of Syria’s Song, The Melody That Ended Too Soon

“My experience with Outskirts was great from start to finish! I was treated with respect. The staff were professional at all times, and responded to my questions very quickly. I was impressed also with their art department. They nailed the concept I was looking for on the first try. I haven’t sold a lot of books on line, but I have sold copy after copy on my own. I have received many compliments and positive reviews that have been posted on line. I have another completed manuscript, as I work on #3, and I plan to use Outskirts again. I would eagerly send anyone with publishing hopes to Outskirts.”

Joscylan Adams was born and raised in Houston, Texas. Reading and writing have been her passion for more than thirty years. Due to a heart condition, she was forced to prematurely leave a job she had held for more than twenty years. During this already difficult period, she suffered the loss of her beloved niece, Syria, and then her father, nine months later. These tragedies gave her a greater sense of the fragility of life, and she decided to begin a journey of living her life’s calling. Her motto is: “Do things while you can, before you want to, and can’t.” Joscylan now lives in Fresno, Texas. This is her first book – and she plans many more to come!

Product description…

Every Life Begins with a Song

What is your song – your life’s song? Is it a song filled with beautiful lyrics? Or does it move through the melancholy of a classic blues chord progression? Most of us will encounter a wide range of songs on our life’s journey. Life presents us with days when we’re singing the blues, and that’s okay – it’s a natural part of life. It’s how we respond to those blue days that makes a difference. Syria’s Song is a powerful tribute to a young woman whose song became tragically and permanently pitched in a minor key. With clear-sighted honesty and a remarkable depth of compassion, Joscylan Adams shares the too-brief life of her niece, Syria, who suffered from bipolar disorder, and who ended up taking her own life. Determined to find a greater meaning in the life and death of the beautiful, funny, educated young woman who had resources available that she chose not to use, Adams set out to learn more about mental illness and suicide. In clear, nonjudgmental, realistic terms, Adams shows you what it’s like to love and support someone with a mental illness. And with simple, direct language that anyone can follow, she explains depression, bipolar disorder, and suicide. An invaluable resource for anyone whose life has been touched by mental illness or the tragedy of suicide, Syria’s Song creates warm, loving safe space for an issue that is often seen as too difficult to talk about.Outskirts Press Review
