Joyce Hau’oli Carter, author of There is No Veil: Aloha is Eternal

Joyce Hau‘oli Carter of Massachusetts was a supervisor of music and literacy coordinator for adult ESL and citizenship volunteer training programs. In retirement, this mother and grandmother writes, paints, teaches music, gives talks about, and travels to the islands and her Hawaiian family. THERE IS NO VEIL is the sequel to her well-received first book IN THE PRESENCE OF ANGELS. She is currently working on a children’s book titled HAWAIIAN MYTHS AND MYSTERIES.

“I decided to publish independently because I knew that I would be in charge of the destiny of my book and of me as its author. I knew I could make the decisions about content and formatting, which included font and size, bold, italics, and spacing, very important elements in the presentation of my book. I was also particularly taken with the knowledge that if I made Outskirts Press my publishing home, I would be treated with respect, caring, and knowledge, that I would have a polished and professional final product, and that I would not be left alone and floundering once the book was published. I have not been disappointed.”
